Two copper plates were prepared with two kinds of resist: hard ground and soft ground. Audience members could then get a feel of putting marks into the resists by using various tools such as a stylus, burnisher, drypoint needle, sandpaper, and roulette. I then took these and etched them in acid at the Kala Art Institute, printed them, and they were then placed on display at the library so that participants and the public could see the results. I have to say the final product was quite intriguing with its free and loose qualities.
